Have Tomato Plants, Will Travel

Guess who is the new Wellness Center Manager at a corporate company in Roanoke, VA? ME! As of July 1, Roanoke will be my new home. It is about 2 hours south of here (11 hours drive to home-getting a bit closer Mom, hang in there!) I feel so blessed. Yes, I did "dig my nails in" and worked hard for this opportunity, but in the end: you just have to, well, WAIT. And, I did, but in the meantime, I found a great neighborhood, an apartment available July 1st, a landlord who agreed to let me plant my tomato plants in the hardest looking dirt I've ever seen, and made my first friend at work: Charlie...the present security guard and retired police officer who in his thorough tour of the facility also showed me that the fridge and freezer were at the correct degree of temperature and explained what could happen if they were just a bit off. Whew!

But seriously, I am hoping to transplant what I can of the garden and then plan a Harvest Festival in the backyard for a future date.

I am so blessed to have so many of the details fall into place. Like my dad said tonight, "We've gotten this far, we can fix the rest." Or something like that anyway. I have never in my life felt so driven to go after something for the sole purpose of a better me. A better life. An opportunity to begin the next chapter with just me making this decision, my wants, my needs. Just when I think it is time to grow some roots, I find that it is time to-not completely start over-but take what I've learned, and transplant these lessons into a more confident life. I am reminded that just this time last year, I was lying on the couch, gut crying in fear that I had made the wrong decision by signing a lease on an apartment without an oven. Look where I am now!
